Pregna Plus
Dietary supplement
Product information
Pregna PLUS is a dietary supplement for pregnant women and breastfeeding mothers developed in accordance with standards devised by Evidence Based Medicine.
It contains ingredients recommended by the Polish Gynecological Society: folic acid, iron, iodine, vitamin D and DHA of the omega-3 family [1]. Iron contained in Pregna Plus is in the form of ferrous bisglycinate which is recommended by the Polish Gynecological Society [2], characterized by high bioavailability and well tolerated by the digestive tract. Its absorption does not depend on food factors.
Pregna Plus was enriched with MetaPregnaFolic™ (L-methylfolate calcium), an ingredient which is a biologically available form of folate, thanks to which it is absorbed easier and faster.
Indications
Pregnant and breastfeeding women.
How it works
The ingredients of Pregna PLUS dietary supplement perform many important functions in the body, which affect proper development of the pregnancy in a physiological manner. Supplemental intake of folic acid increases maternal folate status. Low maternal folate status is a risk factor for the occurence of neural tube defects in the developing foetus[3]. There are many risk factors for the occurrence of neural tube defects and changing one of them may or may not have a positive effect. Iron participates in cell division and helps produce red blood cells. In addition, iron and folic acid have a beneficial effect on the immune system of the mother-to-be. Vitamin D3 helps in the proper use of calcium and phosphorus by a woman’s body.
According to the position of the Polish Panel of Experts on DHA and other omega-3 fatty acids supplementation in pregnant and breastfeeding women, it is recommended to supplement the intake of DHA to ensure that there is enough of this ingredient in the mother’s body and that it is properly transported to the foetus [4].
DHA in our product comes from purified oil from oily saltwater fish, obtained using PureMaxTM technology.
